Disney buys one of the greatest companies of all time: Lucasfilm.

Its’ been a decade since George Lucas said Star Wars was finished on the big screen; a new trilogy under new ownership is destined for cinemas. The news comes after The Walt Disney Company announced that it would buy Lucasfilm from him for $4.05billion. But another thing announced was that there’s going to be another set of "Star Wars" films, beginning with "Episode VII" in 2015.

Seconds after the news broke out; the Internet began swarming with news stories about the shocking event. Star Wars fans, have expressed their outraged feeling to nearly every internet social media website! I myself am not sure on what the outcome of this will be.......
What about George you may ask? Well George Lucas claims that he is trying to protect the company (Lucasfilms) buy passing it over to his co-worker in the Lucasfilm industry Kathleen Kennedy, who will work with Disney  while he’s retired. I myself am almost scared for Lucasfilms, because if Disney, makes it too, fluffy, and not Star Wars material, it could enrage fans, and bring down the honour and glory of Star Wars.

Although, when Disney bought Marvel in 2009, comic book geeks had a similar reaction. We all thought Disney would dilute our favorite Marvel characters into child-friendly, nonviolent Mickey Mouse Clubbers. But that’s not what’s happened. In fact, Marvel has grown as a brand and has become a major player in Hollywood. And there was no trace of Mickey in "The Avengers." Anything is possible in the world of film making.

What the news has to say:
The Star: “In a 2010 handout photo that may alarm diehards of the sci-fi franchise, George Lucas poses with Disney characters with a Star Wars-inspired makeover. Today's message: Get used to it.”

Toronto Sun: “Leia is the newest Disney princess. Goofy could replace Jar Jar Binks. And Mickey will surely wield a mean lightsaber. The Force is strong that mouse.”

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: The Show of the Year

The National Ballet of Canada production is of the classic tale, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It is a reflection of the famous Alice stories themselves - fun, completely imaginative and filled with unexpected moments of awe. Very artistic and ingenious (at least that’s how I think it is). Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a spectacular ballet performance, which has made a big ‘buzz’, in the world of ballet. Although it’s not one of the top 10 most popular productions, it’s still pretty well known. This production has been famously known for its stunning special effects. Such as the Cheshire cat, it moves, and looks almost real, when it interacts with other people. There are many other special effects in the performance too like, when Alice is in the shrinking room, it actually looks like either she’s getting bigger or the room is getting smaller (this might have attracted more people.)

This performance has lured in so many people to view this performance. In fact, I know that 10 friends of mine, went to see this, and they all said it was truly amazing. My reaction to that is that, this production must truly be getting lots of profit off of this.  But even if it’s getting lots of profit off it, that also indicates at least some culture, within this area (which is a good thing).

What the news has to say:
The Star: “The National Ballet of Canada’s production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a smash hit during its June 2011 premiere run in Toronto, returns this weekend for another premiere of sorts.”

Toronto Sun: “It may be a familiar story, but chances are you’ve never seen Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland told quite this way.”
http://www.torontosun.com/2011/06/05/alice-is-wonderfull
The Telegraph: “This reworked, first-anniversary revival of Christopher Wheeldon's fantasy ballet provides a mind-boggling evening's entertainment.

This in conclusion shows that this was a spectacular performance, and I know I’m not the only one who thinks that, by the looks of the thousands of people that saw this too

Smartphone Invasion: iPhone 5’s & Others Market for our Money

The iPhone 5 is here and is ready to take on some of the best phones. Just in general though, the Apple products have been flying off shelves and in to the customers loving arms. Sweet isn’t it. Not to all the other company going up against this monstrosity! Here are some examples of how the new IPhone 5 can be threatening, or not threatening………

iPhone 5:
I can see how this phone became so popular. Some of its attractive features include 4 inch retina display, thin and light weight, all new ear pods with it, camera, etc. Although, it seems to me as if they have embellished the truth, by making it sound all cool, and Hi-tech. Let’s just see if it’s better than some other phones shall we?

Galaxy Nexus (Nexus 4)
The iPhone 5 is smaller and lighter than the Galaxy Nexus. The Nexus 4 weighs a little bit lighter compared to the iPhone 5. It seems that the Nexus has more space, open minded contract, wireless charging, etc, but bulkiness wise, the iPhone 5 wins that department. With the Nexus having more data, but the iPhone 5 being more comfortable, marketing/advertising will be fierce! Although it does really depends on if the marketing could fool people into thinking that one thing is so much better by putting fancy  numbers.

Samsung Galaxy S3
The iPhone 5 is also smaller and lighter than the Samsung Galaxy, but that doesn't mean that the iPhone outranks it. The Samsung has a lot more features than the iPhone, like wireless connection, removable memory, and some other ‘high valued fancy stuff’. Also the Samsung Galaxy is notably cheaper. The Samsung’s lowest price is 582$, while the iPhone 5’s lowest is, 720. It seems to me that most of these phones are some bold competitors.

All in the end, it seems like, the marketers are just trying to arouse customers by putting fancy numbers, and marketing good contracts, in which the phone has an agreement with. Although the iPhone 5 doesn’t have as open of a contract. For example: the Nexus Galaxy has a contract with Fido, so that you wouldn’t have to pay for a 2 year Fido Agreements.  I personally think that they’re all pretty good. It really depends on what one would be looking for in a phone. You decide for yourself, is the IPhone 5 better than the rest, or if there’s another phone that can bring down the IPhone 5!
